If you wanted to save a trip to the Secretary of State Facility or looking to save time, you can complete this online Vehicle Transaction form: The Electronic Registration and Title . This allows you to do the transfer of your current plates all electronically but you cannot only do your plate transfer alone, you will have to include the title. The title fee you would pay if doing electronically would be $150 so your total for the transfer of plates and title would be $175.

The title will cost more if you are pairing it with the transfer of plates process but it will be convenient if you're looking to save time.
